There are two different types of electricity – direct current and alternating current – pioneered by two different inventors, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla, respectively. Tesla used to work with Edison, but then broke off. Edison, in his drive to get ahead of Tesla, defamed Tesla and alternating current. Edison ended up having a larger media voice, but Tesla’s current is the one that is most used.
